Sinopsis: Bogotá años 50. Llegan cartas a Bogotá con diversos testimonios de protesta desde el Chocó. El joven Gabriel García Márquez trabaja en el diario El Espectador como reportero. Guillermo Cano, el director del periódico le encomienda una visita a Quibdó para el cubrimiento de una noticia sobre desorden civil debido a que el departamento del Chocó va a desaparecer. Gabo viaja y llega a una Quibdó desolada, no se ve a nadie en las calles hasta que se encuentra con un lánguido señor que le dice; las protestas y las tales manifestaciones no existen. Gabo abrumado por la situación le encomienda que le ayude a inventar una manifestación porque no tendrá noticia que contar. Ambos organizan protestas reales en las que al principio la gente actúa artificialmente pero las horas y los días pasan y la gente se va empoderando de sus personajes. La noticia se va propagando en todo Colombia y una gran masa se reúne para dar un divertido giro a la situación política y social.

Guillermo Cano, the director of the newspaper entrusts him a visit to Quibdó for the coverage of a news about a civil disorder due to the fact that the department of Chocó is going to disappear. Gabo travels and arrives to a desolate Quibdó, nobody in the streets can be seen until he meets a languid gentleman; the protests and those manifestations do not exist, says the gentleman. Gabo overwhelmed by the situation entrusts him to help to invent a manifestation because he won’t have news to count. Both organize protests indeed, initially the people act artificially but the hours, the days are passing by and the people begin to adapt to their characters. The news is propagating in all the country and a great mass meets to give an enterteining turn and surprise to the political and social situation.
